José Fernando Vázquez Casillas es Doctor en Historia del Arte y en Bellas Artes por la Universidad de Murcia, fotógrafo, crítico y comisario de exposiciones. Profesor Titular del Departamento de Historia del Arte y Vicedecano de Cultura de la Facultad de BBAA de la Universidad de Murcia. Entre el 2002 y 2007 ha sido miembro del equipo de producción del festival fotográfico fotoencuentros. Del 2007 al 2010 ha dirigido el Centro Histórico Fotográfico de la Región de Murcia, CEHIFORM. Desde el 2008 dirige el Laboratorio de Investigación Fotográfica del Departamento de Historia del Arte. Del 2018 al 2022 la revista científica Imafronte. Y desde el 2021 la Serie Foto-Historias, colección de libros de edit.um, Ediciones UMU y el Grupo de Transferencia de Conocimiento-Artes Visuales y Patrimonio. A lo largo de su trayectoria ha centrado sus investigaciones en torno a la fotografía del siglo XIX y XX, así como en la recuperación y conservación de Archivos Fotográficos.

José Fernando Vázquez Casillas is a Doctor in Art History and Fine Arts from the University of Murcia, photographer, critic and exhibition curator. He is a Full Professor of the Department of Art History and Vice Dean of Culture of the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Murcia. Between 2002 and 2007 he has been a member of the production team of the fotoencuentros photographic festival. From 2007 to 2010 he has directed the Historical Photographic Center of the Region of Murcia, CEHIFORM. Since 2008 he has directed the Photographic Research Laboratory of the Art History Department. From 2018 to 2022 he the scientific magazine Imafronte. And from 2021 the Foto-Historias Series, a collection of books from edit.um, Ediciones UMU and the Knowledge Transfer Group-Visual Arts and Heritage. Throughout his career, he has focused his research on photography from the 19th and 20th centuries, as well as on the recovery and conservation of Photographic Archives.
